The California and National economic crises will continue to impact our schools, public safety, and County services. As reported on October 26, 2010, The County is facing a $5.5 million budget defiicit driven by a projected 9.5% decline in property tax revenues (originally projected by County Staff to be a mere 4%..) More than ever, Nevada County needs a County Treasurer with exceptional financial experience, the management skills of a successful business owner, and a record of fiscal integrity.

As a graduate of the nationally ranked USC School of Business, I will apply the knowledge obtained from their distinguished faculty. I will also utilize my combined government and private industry experience.

As a CPA with 22 years of auditing, accounting, and fraud prevention experience, I will safeguard Nevada County’s $130 million dollar Treasury by:

1) Scrutinizing County expenditures to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.

2) Supporting budget reforms to reduce excessive County pension debt.

3) Maintaining strict financial management standards to prevent risky investments and ensure
a solid, stable return on our tax monies.

4) Reinstate the Treasury Oversight Committee for more transparency and accountability.

It’s time for County government to have at least one licensed CPA in its management.
